Week 40

Well, this is the fortieth week in this project. We are four weeks past our original closing date. I could have had a baby by now! Oh well, I guess it won't be much longer until we move in. There is a reason why this place is called Wit's end.

(3)Monday March 18, 2002 - All I did today was install two thresholds and a lock on my office door.

(2)Tuesday March 19, 2002 - I had to go into Austin for my day job and I had to help someone with the backhoe so all I did was re-hang the shop door an install the threshold there.

(6)Wednesday March 20, 2002 - I built ten cabinet doors and hung two of them in the bathroom.

(3)Thursday March 21, 2002 - All I did today was install door knobs. I only have two left to do. The septic installer is supposed to start the excavation for the tanks tomorrow. This should be interesting since it will be in solid rock.

(8)Friday March 22, 2002 - Well, the septic guys were supposed to show up. Contractors have their own time schedule. I did clear out a bunch of cedars so they could easily get to the septic and put some more gravel on the driveway. I also installed the last two doorknobs so I am finished with them. I installed the cabinet doors and hung two more ceiling fans as well. Patti and I agreed on the stain so I think we will do that tomorrow.

(12)Saturday March 23, 2002 - Patti and I stained all of cabinets, doors, and drawer fronts, tore out the tile around the bathtub and put up new tile backer board. I also built the case for the upper cabinet above the refrigerator and the pull out foil drawer, made and stained the molding to top off the cabinets and installed some on the bathroom cabinet.

(6)Sunday March 24, 2002 - I swapped out the dishwasher at our current house, glued the face frame to the cabinet I built yesterday, took Clayton to ball practice, installed the last upper cabinet, and put up the molding above the upper cabinets. I still need to put up the cove molding and put polyurethane on all of the woodwork. I am going to use a water based polyurethane this time. I will let you know what I think of it. Typically I use Defthane which has proven to be one of the best on the market.
